Family First

Hi friends! This was once again a great week! I have to say Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you all enjoyed it! Here in Honduras we didn't celebrate it, but I was lucky enough to receive a small treat at all thr places we visited! It was also a treat to call my family for 15 minutes at night and discover several aunts and uncles, cousins, and my grandparents with my family. I love my family so much and I'm so grateful for the example that they set for to keep going and keep trying every day. This week was spent getting to know my new companion better and working more with him. Elder Herrera is so loving and loves to laugh. I love learning new things about my companions. This week we had a lesson that really stood out to me. We managed a visit with Marlon, and when we met up with him we took him to the house of a member that lived nearby. At that lesson we shared with him the story of the Restoration of the Gospel. The spirit was so strong as we took turns testifying about the Restor...

Topsy Turvy Transfers

Image
Hi friends! How's your week been?! My week has been crazy! Guess what: we had transfers this week! That just about sums up how it was. Unfortunately, these transfers didn't run as smoothly as the previous ones. With 20 missionaries leaving and 18 coming, it was more complicated and time consuming than normal, and it was further complicated by 1 missionary not being able to go back home until Frifay (RIP Elder Falla) and 5 new missionaries being stuck in Panama for a day. Transfers for us ended up taking about 3 days to complete. I also had several difficulties getting all the chip transfers completed, with nearly a whole zone leaving before picking up there required chips. Luckily, it's all worked out, and I gotta give shoutouts to Elder Cano and Elder Snyder who helped me out a ton with the chip transfers! I also want to shout out my comp Elder Randall who's now a Zone Leader for the brand new Puerto Cortea zone!! Good job buddy!  Aside from all the transfer biz, we...

...And Then Sara Storms In...

Image
My mom (Sara) was so mad that she missed the BYU football game that she stormed out of the room and into Honduras. Hi friends!! ...so it's been stormy over here. Some of you may know that tropical storm Sara is situated right over us right now, and it's been raining nonstop for about 2 days. Luckily for us though, it's not too bad. In other parts of Honduras there's been flooding, but where I am right now it's kinda just been a light but constant rain.  We've been working as usual this week. Last Saturday we went to the largest baptism I've seen in Honduras. A whopping 85 people went to it! Shout-out to Elder Porter and Elder Alvarenga for having a super cool baptism!  Tomorrow it will be our turn to have a baptism. We have two friends on date to be baptized tomorrow, so please keep Lesly and Mayra in your prayers. This week has been a lot of visiting our friends with baptismal dates and helping them prepare for this special experience. One notable person we...

Faith To Live The Higher Laws

Hi friends! How are you?! I hope you are well! I've had a very busy week, and a fun one too! I don't want to spend too much time writing though, so I'm going to summarize this week in bullet points! This week we:  - Woke up at 6am on P-day to hike up to the Coca-Cola on the mountain, and then up to the top of the mountain (we got permission to wake up early)  - Discovered that the mission car got robbed overnight. All the doors were open and the spare tire was missing, but outside of that, nothing else was lost.  - Had a technical malfunction in our house that resulted in the oven, clothes dryer, and air conditioners not working anymore. We've since been having an office-home sleep over in the 'celestial room' because we can open the windows there and put fans up. Once the air conditioners are working again, we'll go back to our normal rooms.  - Had surprise emergency divisions with Elder Porter and had a super awesome day.  - We visited a reference we recei...

Give Me My Money!

Hi friends! So a friend told us about a prank titled: Give me my money! We decided to do it at the office. It was fun! If you know about it and have done it, tell me how it went! Now, this week was a super cool week. There's a new person we're teaching named Marlon, and he's super awesome. He's super committed to learning more and joined us at church last week! He's a super smart person who asks super good questions about the church and the Book of Mormon. He's super busy during the week, so we're going to visit him today and tomorrow. We also had a short lesson over the phone with him a few days ago! In other news, Briana from Las Brisas got baptized yesterday! She's the pensionista's great-granddaughter and it was a joy being with her and the pensionista family during my time in Las Brisas. It makes me think about my own baptism 11 years ago. It was a critical time of decision, and I still remember and care about the decision and promise I made at ...
