...And Then Sara Storms In...
My mom (Sara) was so mad that she missed the BYU football game that she stormed out of the room and into Honduras.
Hi friends!!
...so it's been stormy over here. Some of you may know that tropical storm Sara is situated right over us right now, and it's been raining nonstop for about 2 days. Luckily for us though, it's not too bad. In other parts of Honduras there's been flooding, but where I am right now it's kinda just been a light but constant rain. We've been working as usual this week.
Last Saturday we went to the largest baptism I've seen in Honduras. A whopping 85 people went to it! Shout-out to Elder Porter and Elder Alvarenga for having a super cool baptism! Tomorrow it will be our turn to have a baptism. We have two friends on date to be baptized tomorrow, so please keep Lesly and Mayra in your prayers.
This week has been a lot of visiting our friends with baptismal dates and helping them prepare for this special experience. One notable person we've been teaching is Miguel. He is a very smart, but kinda shy person who wants to change his relation with God. Our meetings with him are super special and the spirit that I feel when I'm around him is stronger. I have a lot of hope for him. Please keep Miguel in your prayers as well.
In other notes for this week, we've spent a bunch of time preparing for the transfers that will be next week. I can't talk about what changes we'll have in the areas in the mission (Im lot aloud to share them and I still don't know them yet), but I am excited for the fun challenge of receiving 20 new missionaries. While I don't yet know how big the transfers are, I bet that they're pretty big because last time we had so many new missionaries there were giant transfers.
President and Sister McClellan just barely got home from an Area Conference they had in Guatemala. They reported that they saw Elder Franco while they were there, and I'm super happy to hear that! They also mentioned that they were admonished to better learn scriptures that they really believe in. Here in San Pedro Sula we have to memorize scriptures and I've done so mostly at random. I've never thought about choosing scriptures I believe in. My new goal is to do that, and I extend the same invitation to you: to memorize scriptures that you believe in, and their scripture references as well.
I hope that you all have a great week and that you're all healthy, even in the chilly weather up there. I've been pretty cold down here, I've now been served hot chocolate two days in a row and I've started wearing my sweater to visit again because this 75°F weather is too cold for me.
Love you guys! Keep up the great work always! Talk to you next week!
