The Honduras Bus Strikes Back

Yep, that's right folks! I'm back! Anyways, this week we'll be having transfers and I'll be checking out my second area! In preparation for that, I have a lot of chores to do. I've done a lot, but still am a long ways to go before I'm ready to leave, and I have very little time to prepare.  Because of that, this will be a very short email. Some interesting things that happened this week were:  - Rode the bus 5/7 days of the week  - Lost all my mission money to the bus  - Lost all my personal money to the bus (gotta go to the bank again)  - Lost my personal study time to the bus  - The bus has basically consumed my very thoughts at this point  - I also have two more bus rides planned thus next week  Fun things did come from the bus rides though. Those things are:  - Yummy food  - A zone activity where we got themed t-shirts   - Divisions where I was paired up with Zone Leader Elder Hall  - A stake conference   - A...

What Happens When You Procrastinate Email Writing

Image
Hi guys! I don't have a lot of time to write emails today, we went to Los Naranjos for a zone activity (take two for me) and like always, zone activities take time out of email writing.  A bunch of stuff happened this week, but I didn't log it in my journal (only in my daily voice recordings) so I will report a few things that I remember from the week. Here's the deets:  - We hijacked the speakers on a public bus and blasted church music  - We had an amazing hour long phone call with multiple people, and we were accompanied by a member that is recovering from a surgery and could visit homes with us (with technology, there are many more ways to serve)  - We spent a whole day looking for people to teach and found a total of: 1 person (who was not interested)  - We had a zone activity and got amazing Zone-themed shirts  - Had divisions with Elder Porter and I got to see how he works. He is an amazing missionary and very powerful in the spirit. I loved how he w...

Bro....

Calm down, it's just a 3-inch spider... Hi friends! I'm so glad to be able to write and report about my week.  Sadly, not too many notable things happened, so this week I'm just going to give a short summary of some notable events and get on with my chores (so much laundry...) Last Monday, as I was going to bed, I walked into the bathroom, grabbed my toothbrush, then for some reason looked down at my feet.  Right next to my foot was a 3-inch spider.  Not wanting a giant spider in my bathroom, and, not wanting to kill the thing and get it's guts everywhere, I decided to drop a bowl over it.  I'm pretty sure it's dead now but I'm too scared to lift up the bowl to check. If more spiders show up, then there might be a bunch of bowls on the floor in my bathroom. The discovery of a spider caused a short scream to come out of my mouth, and that was not the only scream to come out during the week.  A few days later I was closing up the house for bed, and while I wa...

My Missionary Miracles & The Final Miracle

Image
Hi guys! I can't believe another year has passed, and 6 months of my mission too!  What a great way to start the new year with a major milestone in my mission story: the first quarter (missionary training). When I talked with my parents on Jan 1st, I confided in them that I felt pretty anxious about a whole new year.  You never know what's going to happen!  I'm going to go to new places, meet new people, run into crazy challenge, and all of it in another language!  What I really needed this week were a handful of miracles to remember that God is there, and that he knows me, and that he loves me. This past week is full of miracles, and I can't wait to share them with you. Miracle #1: No more illness! While my Honduran friends who have gotten sick last week are still sniffling and sneezing, I managed to overcome the illness, and now I can continue to work without trouble.  This past week was pretty rough in the fact that I was feeling pretty lousy, and I'm super g...

To All Whom It May Concern...

This may apply more to my family, but I will send this out to everyone. For those of you who are wondering why I do not have new photos to share, take comfort that I have taken photos, they just have not yet been uploaded to Google Photos due to technical problems.  I am trying to troubleshoot the problems and new photos may show up next week. In the meantime,  here is a link to my photos album, and here are a few more photos to tease you guys with. Additionally, check out Las Vegas (and El Mochito) Honduras on Google Maps and try to spot me in front of a few places there. May that satisfy you for now. Anyways,  have a very pleasant week!

Maybe I Shouldn't Mention The OTHER Murder....

Hi guys! I hope you all had an amazing Christmas, and amazing New Year and end to 2023! This past week was a good one, though a cold hit me pretty hard during it.  I'm still feeling the final effects of the cold, so I'm not planning on writing too much today. In fact, I think I'm going to do this email in the same bullet point format as last week's. So without further ado, let's get into it!  - A cold hit me on Christmas Eve (sore throat)  - The cold worsened on Christmas day (a cough)  - The cold continued to get worse on Tuesday (extreme exhaustion)  - And the cold got even worse on Wednesday (a very runny nose)  - The cold finally hit it's peak on Thursday (all of the above)  - After Friday, the symptoms have lessened and I'm now only occasionally blowing my nose  - Still tired Along with the cold I:  - Proselyted every day of the week  - Died in San Juan on Tuesday (but I was fed grapes so I was fine)  - Died in Las Vegas on Wed...
