Bro....
Calm down, it's just a 3-inch spider...
Hi friends!
I'm so glad to be able to write and report about my week. Sadly, not too many notable things happened, so this week I'm just going to give a short summary of some notable events and get on with my chores (so much laundry...)
Last Monday, as I was going to bed, I walked into the bathroom, grabbed my toothbrush, then for some reason looked down at my feet. Right next to my foot was a 3-inch spider. Not wanting a giant spider in my bathroom, and, not wanting to kill the thing and get it's guts everywhere, I decided to drop a bowl over it. I'm pretty sure it's dead now but I'm too scared to lift up the bowl to check. If more spiders show up, then there might be a bunch of bowls on the floor in my bathroom.
The discovery of a spider caused a short scream to come out of my mouth, and that was not the only scream to come out during the week. A few days later I was closing up the house for bed, and while I was checking to make sure all the lights were off I discovered a person staring at me through one of the windows. Turns out, it was the land lady, wanting us to bring our dry clothes inside, but she sure gave me a heart attack.
We went to San Pedro Sula, and ate at a Wendy's (It's been months since I've eaten at an American restaurant). All I can say is that Wendy's here is the same as it is in the US: Nothing like the picture shows, and super packed with people.
We had a service project - shovelling dirt into a home to level out the floors. If I understand right, after the floor is level, they will pour cement over it. The person who asked us to do this service is building his own home DIY (literally, using Youtube videos and everything). After the service they gave us soft tacos that tasted like the food we eat at home.
I gave the talk at our district council - themed off of the Book of Mormon. I spent an hour working on the talk and I think it turned out well.
We had a mega awesome lesson with some people approaching baptism. We invited a bunch of members to join and we basically had a Family Home Evening get together. I left feeling drained but super happy. The people who are approaching baptism told us they wanted to wait a month so another member of the family could join in on the baptism, so I won't have any this month, but there will be parties in heaven next month.
We did a bunch of phone calls with the new bishop present and he greatly approved of the activity, as a bonus, more people showed up to church!
We also discovered that some members have some beef with the new bishop (drama has already ensued (you should've heard the testimony they bore badmouthing the bishop during testimony meeting)).
We had an awesome planning session where we planned a ton of visits with members. Fingers crossed that they will work out!
I also started cooking breakfast (Egg Salad Sandwich + Watermelon = Yum!)
Alright, I'm out of things I want to share for this week, so I'll leave you guys with this final thought:
Today, I read on the Church News about what the apostles have learned from the prophet Russell M. Nelson, additionally, I read a bunch of the book Teachings from the Prophet Joseph Smith. They both are really great and very insightful. I recommend to you all to study the prophets and try to identify traits from them you can emulate. I know that if you follow the prophets, you will find yourself more connected to God and more happy in your life - regardless of the circumstances.
Okay, I'm done! Thanks so much for taking the time to read my report and show me so much support. I really appreciate it! Keep working hard and looking for God and you will find much happiness in your life.
Now, without further ado, I'm off to do my laundry.
See ya next week!
- Élder Grant
