Fathers Day

Image
Hi family and friends! Thats right! Im officially a 'dad' in the mission. This week the branch also had a father’s day activity where about 6 investigators showed up, so the title fits. Fathers day here in Honduras is March 19th, but it's better to celebrate late than never!  After almost 2 years of seeing my companions and friends train new missionaries and wanting to also do so, its finally my chance to try it out! And I get to do it with 4 other Elders from my generation! My new companion is Elder Lopez from Nicaragua and he's on day #5 in the mission. Seeing his enthusiasm for the work reminds me of when I was in my training. He's such a loving missionary and cares so much for everyone else! I'm grateful to be with such an amazing new missionary and to help him get on his feet to start the mission running. Even though he doesn't yet have a week in the mission he's already taking a ton of initiative in sharing the gospel with everyone else. This week ...

Member Missionary Miracles

Hi friends! Last week, during Stake Conference President Sing (the 1st counsellor of President McClellan) gave an amazing talk about member missionaries - or in other words, members participating in missionary work in small and simple ways. Some examples he gave were asking friends/neighbors if they would like to meet the missionaries, or going out and visiting with them, or praying for them - or in other words, just doing what you can to help out (he even gave a super cool family history - missionary work crossover activity that a ward did in Guatemala). It was a super inspiring talk that moved me, just as well as it did the members. Anyways, this week the ward helped out a ton with missionary work, and here's how!  - One of the counsellors of the Stake President (President Guevara) came by to repair the baptismal font. It's been out of service for the past 4 months, but now it works as new!  - On his way back home, he started chatting with a woman in the gas station and invi...

Sleepover! (Again?!)

Image
Hi friends!  I hope you are doing well! I sure had an interesting week! Sadly, I've procrastinated writing my weekly email, so I'll keep it short!  1st: We had interviews with President McClellan! But with a twist! Unfortunately, President and Sister McClellan fell ill this week and couldn't make it out to Cofradía, so instead of going to Cofradia for the interviews, they asked us to come to his house in San Pedro Sula for the interviews! And, because the Santa Barbara district is located pretty far away from San Pedro Sula, they asked us to go to San Pedro a day early to spend the night in the office. So, after working as hard as we could on Tuesday, we left at night for SPS and made it at about 8 o'clock. We then grabbed dinner and spent the night in the office.  It was super fun seeing my secretary buds again after a month of people back in the mission field, and we spent some time catching up before going to bed and having interviews with President McClellan. I'...

Double Digit Days

Image
Today is my final day in the triple digits. Time is going by way too fast! Hi friends! That's right. I'm heading into the final countdown, and I now wish there was more time to hang around. But I'm ready to make the most out of my final 100 days in Honduras. After nearly two years of growth and experiences, I feel like I can take advantage of this precious time to invite everyone to the gospel of Jesus Christ! This week was a super eventful one, and super fun too! Of very notable events, we had Multi-Zone Conference on Wednesday and got to hear several wonderful messages from our church leaders. Their messages were very motivational and encouraged us to push as hard as we can to help the Lord's work move forward! Our Obedience in the morning and Diligence in the afternoon really can bring Miracles in the evening! I was also able to say hi to several good friends from the mission! It was awesome seeing the other secretaries and chatting with them! They are doing a great ...

Stranded 12 Km (7.5 Miles) From Home...

Image
How long would it take to walk 7.5 miles?  Hi friends! I hope you all had a great week! I sure had an eventful one! Several highlights of this week were: divisions with my ZLs, moving to a new house, and visiting some members and a referral super far from where we usually visit. Let's get to it! Divisions! I was paired up with Elder Coc in Cofradía while Elder Muñoz (sound familiar?) went with my Elder Elias (my companion) in San Marcos. As it turns out, both of my zone leaders right now (Elder Coc and Elder Muñoz) are going home with me in June, so we had fun divisions chatting about life and visiting friends in Cofradia. Out of all the missionaries in my 'missionary generation' I knew the least about Elder Coc, so it was super fun getting to know him. When we got to the ZLs house to start divisions, we were surprised by two other missionaries who lived next door who are assigned to the Cofradia 2 area. Elder Smith and Elder Flores came out with orbee guns and all of the s...
