Double Digit Days
Today is my final day in the triple digits. Time is going by way too fast!
Hi friends!
That's right. I'm heading into the final countdown, and I now wish there was more time to hang around. But I'm ready to make the most out of my final 100 days in Honduras. After nearly two years of growth and experiences, I feel like I can take advantage of this precious time to invite everyone to the gospel of Jesus Christ!
This week was a super eventful one, and super fun too!
Of very notable events, we had Multi-Zone Conference on Wednesday and got to hear several wonderful messages from our church leaders. Their messages were very motivational and encouraged us to push as hard as we can to help the Lord's work move forward! Our Obedience in the morning and Diligence in the afternoon really can bring Miracles in the evening! I was also able to say hi to several good friends from the mission! It was awesome seeing the other secretaries and chatting with them! They are doing a great job at keeping the mission running smoothly!
After the multi-zone conference I had divisions with my district leader - Elder Castro. They were super fun and I got to know him well! He's very fun and motivated to helping everyone come unto Christ. I also feel like the divisions went well in the fact that we had a little bit of every aspect of missionary work included, such as meeting new people, working with members, supporting inactive members and friends and helping them come closer to Christ. They were fun, but the trips to and from Santa Barbara afterwards to finish divisions were extremely long. I'm in a district where the district leader is on the other side of a mountain range, so we don't see each other in person too often...
On Friday we had a zone council where we reviewed several things the Zone Leaders learned in their Mission Leadership Council and they told us that they want us to try to put 2 baptismal dates every week. I'm excited to try that out, but that means that we need to find a lot more people to teach. Nearly a month in San Marcos, and we're still struggling to find people interested in learning more about the gospel.
But not seeing many fruits doesn't mean that you're not working hard. There are several people that I think have the potential to progress, so we've been messaging and calling them to coordinate a time to visit them! One person in particular is a person that contacted us (we received their referral, but not their contact info, but they managed to get ours and reached out to us) wanting a change in his life. He is willing to change his job schedule to join us for church, and I'm excited to see what goes on with him.
On Sunday I was confident that many new people were going to join us at church because we had invited them and followed up with them and they all told us that they were 100% going to join us. But I was dissappointed with the discovery of 0 new friends in church. Oh well, that happens some times, and this Sunday Honduras had its first voting process for their new country leaders, so they probably went to that instead. This next we're going to be visiting them with members to get the members involved in bringing them to chuch. As I was sitting in church, listening to the talks and helping out with the hymns, the stake president suddenly enterred and walked up to the stand. President Pedro (the branch president) announced his prescence and then President Bueso (the stake president) came up and talked to us about service. It was a surprise that he showed up, but it was cool to hear from him! Elders Quorum was super cool too because we talked about our duty as priesthood holders to serve others and minister to the church.
After church we ate lunch with our pensionista and the stake president's family joined us! And after weekly planning we went out visiting with the pensionista's family. The members here really are amazing! I feel so blessed to be able to be here and to be able to meet such amazing people every day!
Anyways, that's all for me this week! I hope you have a great week and keep on working hard! Talk to you next time!
