Fathers Day

Hi family and friends!

Thats right! Im officially a 'dad' in the mission. This week the branch also had a father’s day activity where about 6 investigators showed up, so the title fits. Fathers day here in Honduras is March 19th, but it's better to celebrate late than never!

After almost 2 years of seeing my companions and friends train new missionaries and wanting to also do so, its finally my chance to try it out! And I get to do it with 4 other Elders from my generation! My new companion is Elder Lopez from Nicaragua and he's on day #5 in the mission. Seeing his enthusiasm for the work reminds me of when I was in my training. He's such a loving missionary and cares so much for everyone else! I'm grateful to be with such an amazing new missionary and to help him get on his feet to start the mission running. Even though he doesn't yet have a week in the mission he's already taking a ton of initiative in sharing the gospel with everyone else.

This week I said farewell to Elder Elias, another awesome missionary that I really enjoyed spending time with, and spent transfers in the office, the temple, and in Trincheras with Elder Bach. It was so awesome to see old friends and discover that one of my new ZLs is Elder O'Ryan from my office days.

We're already working hard here in San Marcos. We put two people on date to be baptized on the 20th, and another friend of ours came to church for the first time! Elder Lopez has a ton of ideas on how to help the area.

One interesting story to share. Our first full day together we had two lessons confirmed with some referrals, but which lived very far away on both extremes in our area. In total we traveled about 50 kms (31 miles) that day, and I spent a big buck on those mototaxi rides because my comp didn't have Honduran money yet.

We also had a fun family home evening activity with the branch president's family where we strongly testified about the power of the scriptures in our lives. A great example of this to me is the story in Jacob 7 of a man named Sherem who lead many people away into false doctrines, but by the power of the scriptures he repented and the people were tempted no more by false doctrines. The more we study the scriptures, the more strongly founded we are in the gospel and the less likely we will be lead away down strange paths.

Speaking of scriptures, General Conference is next week. That is modern scripture that will be written in this day! Let it be written in your hearts by watching or listening to general conference with a question in your heart that you want God to answer.

Love you guys so much! Have a great week!
