I Have A Parable For You...

Image
A mother has three children.  The first child comes up to her and says, "Mother, I love you". She happily replies, "If you love me, then wash the dishes". The child says "OK" and leaves, but doesn't wash the dishes. Then the second child comes up to her and says, "Mother, I love you". She happily replies, "If you love me, then sweep the porch". The child says "OK" and leaves, but doesn't sweep the porch. Finally the third child comes up to her and says, "Mother, I love you." She happily replies, "If you love me, then pick up the toys". The child says "OK" and leaves, and washes the dishes, sweeps the porch, and picks up the toys. At night the three children again say, "I love you" to thier mother, but who really loves her? Another parable to get you thinking: A man stands at the door to heaven, and while standing there three people come up to him. The first comes up to the man, a...

I Couldn't Avoid The Chicken Feet Any Longer...

Image
Hi friends! So, my time in the mission offices has officially come to a close. I am now in a new area, and this area will likely be my last area for the mission. It's called San Marcos. Now, for those of you in Honduras, you might be thinking of San Marcos in Ocotepeque, which is a super far area, but I'm actually in San Marcos, Santa Barbara, which isn't too far from San Pedro Sula (only about an hour drive if there's no traffic). This is a pueblo, meaning a small town which means no more big city for me! I've now been in two small town areas, and in three San Pedro Sula city areas. I like how I've been able to discover several different types of Honduran cultures. The Honduran pueblo culture is a very religious one, so I'm excited to see how the missionary work will go here. I'm in a branch, but a large one that completely fills up the chapel. The members are super nice and there's a ton of recent converts to take care of. We will have to do a ton ...

I'm Retired

Image
Hi friends! Thats right! Im officially retired from the office. Elder Ensign - my replacement - has taken full control and is doing a great job! That doesn't mean that I'm doing nothing though, there's still plenty to do around here! We've been working hard preparing Miguel for his baptism (which will be tomorrow!) and helping other people progress towards making the covenant of baptism as well. It's been a busy time here in the office focusing on both office work and missionary work. This week we had our interviews with President McClellan and they were amazing! It was a good time to think back on what I've done so far and look forward to my final area and what I'll do there. I'm 99% going to train as I finish the mission, and I'm so excited for it! Any advice for that would be greatly appreciated. My time in the office sure has been an eventful and entertaining time. President McClellan admitted that he has appreciated the increased confidence that...

Waving Flag

Hi friends! This was a super fun week! We've been working hard, though things have not gone according to what I planned. This week, in preparation for the arrival of my replacement, I buckled down and tried to finish up what I could to prepare everything for him. But... several last minute emergencies and many technical difficulties later, my replacement arrived and we couldn't even use any computer! Some context: we got a random shipment of new computers, and several weeks ago I called someone to come and set them up. On the day of the arrival the man showed up and started changing the computers, but couldn't set them up. He's going to come back and finish the job, but for the moment we've set up the old computers again and are working with them still.   This week we visited Miguel to continue helping him prepare for his baptism.  He is so excited! When we teach them the commandments he readily accepts them and commits to following them, and his prayers for help to...
