Goodbye Forest
Hi friends!
I don't have much time to talk because I'm busy packing up my stuff! That's right friends! I'm outta here! This forest is terrible and I don't like it, so I'm skedadling to another part of Honduras (hopefully a part with less trees)
All jokes though (well, besides leaving the area)! I've loved my time in El Bosque and it's been a crazy 4 weeks climbing one mountain to the next dodging mosquitos and mototaxis and baptizing like crazy with Elder Sopon! They've been chaotic, stressful, and fun, but duty is calling me to new places!
Now some of you may be saying ... wait a minute! a transfer is 6 weeks, but you've only been here for 4! You are correct, but I've been given a special assignment from the president, and have to leave now. So while it's bittersweet to leave an area so soon after getting there, it is what it is. After being in two areas for 6 months each, it's a big contrast to only be in an area for 4 weeks.
Now before I tell you what I'm going to be doing, I'm going to give a quick summary of what we did this week!
On Tuesday my comp Elder Sopon was the only person to show up to his EnglishConnect class, so he talked to the teacher for 30 minutes like a champ!
On Wednesday we had a multi-zone conference and I got to see my old buds from my previous areas! Elder Sopon also got a shout out for speaking English so well and he's moving up on to level 3! Good job!!!
On Thursday we did divisions with the DL and I was paired with Elder Maier here in El Bosque. It was a fun time visiting with him and learning from him, and at one point we contacted a woman who showed interest in learning about the plan of salvation, but as we left the husband asked us to do a favor for him: To never return to his house. Ever. Welp, goodbye to them!
On Friday we did divisions with the ZLs and I was sent to Elder Ordoñez in La Lopez! He had just barely come out of a toenail surgery an had bandages over his feet, but he worked like a champ and we spent 3 hours calling people then the rest of the day visiting! It was super fun! Elder Van Dyke was also in that area several months ago, and the pensionista tried calling him so we could chat with him a sec but he didn't answer. It was cool meeting his converts though!
On Saturday we spent most of the day running errands for the members and preparing for the baptism of Cleverson! I also got a surprise visit from Guadalupe from Las Brisas because she was invited to the branch's relief society activity. The baptism was super awesome, and Cleverson is a super cool dude!
On Sunday we partook of the sacrament. Cleverson was also confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! We spent most of the day visiting and saying goodbye to the people we've met and been blessed to serve. We also recieved some Macheteadas (Honduran Scones) from some members we helped reactivate!
Today we had a Zone Activity, so we played volleyball for a time, then we went and ate soup with a member for lunch. I chose Seafood Soup and it wasn't that bad, but I prefer bean soup.
Okay. Well, I'm getting tired of writing, so I'll end it off here. I'll talk to you guys later to report on what's going on, but keep being awesome guys, and keep on keeping on!
