Goodbye Las Brisas

Hi friends!

How have you been this week?!

I’ve been good, but this week has sure been crazy!!

To start: On Monday we went and visited an Australian that we contacted!  It was interesting and fun to talk in English for a little bit while sharing a short message with them. To be honest, I never thought I would find an Australian here in Honduras. But I can now check it off of my list of people I’ve met!

On Wednesday we had divisions with the Zone Leaders. Elder Randall went with Elder Snyder to Jardines del Valle, and Elder Mercado stayed with me in Las Brisas.  They were fun divisions, but I got stressed out (as usual) because at the start of the day most people canceled our appointments, but we managed to salvage the situation, so it’s all good!  The charlas were fun and I loved the way Elder Mercado teaches the people. There are so many ways to teach and it’s so fun to learn what I can do better and other perspectives I can share with the people about the gospel.

I wont lie, then next few days after divisions felt super chaotic because I discovered that transfers was going to be moved up two days from Thursday to Tuesday, and that I was 99% going to be transfered.  Over the next few days we had district council, Elder Randall got sick one day (he’s better now!), we followed up with a bunch of people on invitations we gave and literally had 100% busy schedules (which is what you secretly want to happen)

We visited hermana Celenia several times, with members accompanying us.  It was fun and I love seeing her enthusiasm for learning the gospel!  She’s come to church twice now (but her granddaughter still has yet to join us) and on Saturday we ate dinner with her and invited her and her granddaughter Caroline to be baptized.  For that lesson we brought Albaluz and her two grandchildren with us and it ended up being a super powerful and spiritual lesson.  It was the first time that missionaries had left to visit with her (she’s a recent convert) and she was amazing at sharing her testimony.  When we invited Celenia and Caroline to be baptized they both simultaneously said yes without hesitation!

I’m so excited for them!  I’m sad that I have to leave before their baptism, but I’m so glad that Elder Randall will be taking care of them.

We also held a Family Home Evening activity in the church where about 11 youth came to hang out and have a spiritual thought.  It worked out super well, and we had two new people come to church for the first time as well (one of which also came to the FHE) which was awesome!

Since Saturday I’ve kinda been out of focus because in the morning the mission president called us!  When he called I answered the phone, and he called to:

  1. Ask Elder Randall if he would be the next district leader

  2. Confirm that I would be transfered (My next comp is going to be a Latino)

Now that I know that I’m going to be leaving I’ve been a lot more distracted, especially with the topic of getting everything packed and cleaned before Tuesday.  I am super excited though for the change and the new experiences it will bring.

Anyways. I’ve been writing for a while, but what I really should be doing is packing, so I’m going to stop here and keep preparing everything for tomorrow.  Next week I’ll let you guys know about where I am and who I’m with!

Love you guys so much, and thanks for all the email’s you’ve sent. They’ve meant so much to me!

A final note: I've now been a missionary for just over 1 year. I've had two Latino companions and 3 American companions. I've been in two areas, spending 6 months in each area.

I'm excited to see what's next! I'm sure crazy things will be coming and fun stories to share too!

Anyways, see you guys next week!
