Pupusa Challenge Gone Wrong
Hi friends!!!
I hope you are all doing well! I'm doing fine here in Las Brisas! I thought that I was maybe going to get transferred this week, but it turns out that, no, I'm staying here for 6 more weeks! That means that I'm going to be celebrating 1 year in the mission here in Las Brisas. I've only had two areas so far, but that's okay. I'm glad I'm able to stay in the same area for a while and have that stability and friendship with the members. This week was filled with a ton of changes though, because the San Pedro Sula Zone was split into the Office and SPS zones, and thus zone and district boundaries have changed. We are now in the Smith District of missionaries, which means a new district leader, and new friends to meet. This will lead to new experiences and more growth!
The work this week has been pretty good too. Something I'm just now realizing is that bad/lousy days are kinda necessary to allow for awesome/amazing/happy days. This week had a healthy mix of both, and I was able to just find the joy in working. The rainy season started this week, leading to amazing thunderstorms. I'm 100% not in Utah anymore because the amount of water falling from the sky is insane. It's like God picked up the ocean and dropped it on top of us. Funnily enough, though, it hasn't lowered the temperature very much, so it's still pretty hot and humid here.
On Friday there was a ward fundraiser so they can pay to go to the temple for their final temple trip before the SPS temple's dedication, and they sold Pupusas! We didn't help very much with it because we were out visiting (but we did eat the pupusas), but it seemed like everything that could go wrong did go wrong. As they were selling pupusas they were afflicted with:
- A crazy thunderstorm
- The power going out
- Running out of ingredients
- Too many orders to count
- Not enough people willing to run into the rain to drop off food
But even with those difficulties they raised more money than they were planning to raise, so it was a huge success. They are awesome!
We had some awesome success too, because on Wednesday we managed to coordinate to visit several people with members accompanying us, and it all worked out! It was amazing having that success!
This week I tried going at the week with a stronger growth-mindset approach, and I really enjoyed this week, so I highly recommend you all doing the same!
Please take care and please keep trying your best. You are amazing and we all love you! Thanks for your constant support, being a missionary is awesome.
There's an awesome talk about Deliverance that I really enjoyed, and maybe you will too:
But anyways, talk to you next week!
