I Love To See The Temple

Hi friends!

I hope you are all doing well!

This week has been a fun one!  Though I’m a funny being and like to stress myself out for no reason!

First, some fun events of the week!

We had a Multi-zone conference where I had the privilege of participating in the musical number.  Elder Snyder and Elder Porter sang the Primary song: We’ll Bring the World His Truth (Army of Helaman), while I played the accompaniment on the piano.  It super fun to do, and I’m proud of the version of the song I found because it was: easy to learn, pretty to hear, easy to translate to Spanish (the Spanish version of the song is a little bit different), and worked well for 3 verses of the song.  In the end, it was amazing to perform up there with two amazing missionaries and enjoy a beautiful multi-zone conference.

After the conference, Elder Snyder and I split off and went to the Jardines area, while Elder Randall and Elder Davila went to Las Brisas.  It was an amazing adventure to have with Elder Snyder, and I learned so much from him.  We also happened to pass by the San Pedro Sula temple so I got to visit it in person for the first time ever.  We also had a baptismal interview and Francis is such a special kid.  He knows so much about the gospel, and when I asked him if he was ready for the baptism, he said yes with a determination he didn’t show beforehand.  To top it off, we finished the day eating dinner with a family of multilingual children who talk so much.  Their energy is contagious though, and I loved meeting them.

Back in my area, people don’t seem to be progressing very much. To help with this, we’ve been putting extra efforts in to contact new people.  We still haven’t found any people really interested in learning more, but we’ll keep trying.  Something interesting about Las Brisas is that everyone will talk to you, and everyone will listen to you, but few people really act on the invitations that are given.  So basically, once someone goes to church (or reads the pamphlet, or says the prayer), then you know that they are really interested in learning more. (The only sad thing about right now is that no one is following through with any commitments)

We have a few members that are going to be leaving this next week (Karen and Melissa), so we’ve been squeezing out a few final moments with them to visit and say goodbye.  They are both very friendly members who have helped missionaries in the past, and well be sorely missed, but it will soon be our chance to grow and find new ways to work with the rest of the members.

The heatwave has still been going here, and the air pollution has made this place terrible.  My mom even reported to me that San Pedro Sula has the worst air on the American continent.  Somehow, though, we’re still alive, and it hasn’t bugged me as much as I thought it would.  This has lead to continual power outages, which sucks, but has lead to interesting experiences.  We managed to track down a member who moved homes right before the power went out, so we hung out with them until it was safe to venture to our house.

I’ve been having so many experiences, and some small moments are very special: For example.  There are some youth we are teaching named Andres, Andrea, and Victor.  During one lesson with them, we couldn’t decide on who should say the prayer, so we ended up doing 4 prayers (one from each of us because Andrea wasn’t there).  It was so special to have that kind of experience with prayer, and I testify of the power with prayer.  It always seems to be the highlight of the lessons we have with them.

I listened to a talk this week called: How does the Holy Ghost Help You?, and I thought that it was amazing.  I am really realizing that one of the most important aspects of missionary work is having the spirit with you, so I’ve been trying very hard to increase my connection with the spirit so I can help the people recieve a true testimony of the gospel.

Anyways, have a great week! I love you all so much, and I hope that those of you ending school enjoy an amazing summer!
