Too Much Craziness To Write About...

Image
“Okay, time to test out Samsung keyboard. Ah OK things are things are starting to come together. Hopefully this will help me speak faster if that makes sense. I guess write faster is better. But I'm probably gonna make a lot of 'um' noises. Oh, no, it's all causing problems now (Problems revised in post recording). But it's surprisingly good, it just requires a lot of editing. Perfect. This is how I'm going to do my weekly email to cut off time writing. I'm just going to say it all and hope it writes it fast. But I'm permitted to read emails for longer than an hour. I just can only write for an hour. So if I read this to revise it does that count as writing it? I'm not sure.” “Already I guess I'll just start talking and get this over with. I'm probably gonna do this in a bunch of short sessions of talking and imposing. And then talking, especially since we just really got moved outside to buy some ballet others. And now this place is getting ...

Pepsi And Bananas Are Ganging Up On Me.

Never teach Hondurans Origami  (Alternate Title) Fun fact: There are three types of Bananas here: 1. Platanos (What USA calls Bananas) 2. Bananos (What USA calls Plantains) 3. Guineos  (What USA doesn't want you to know about (They're terrible)) Hi Friends! I suppose I should just hop straight into what happened this week: A lot. Alright, see you guys next week!  - Élder Grant Okay, okay. Sorry for being so goofy. It's just that ... writing a weekly email is kinda draining (don't get me wrong, I love writing them) and I just barely finished writing one so I need to recharge a bit. To help with writing this email, I'm going to be a bit goofy. Hi friends!!! (actually, this time)! This past week has been pretty busy, and this upcoming one even more so, so I suppose I should get straight to the point (weekly email: emoji edition). Monday - Nov 13th I suppose I should give a full run down of today because I haven't said anything about it yet.   So... yesterday (Nov 1...

Everyone, Meet My Nephew!

Hi friends! Wow. Kids grow up so fast, am I right? I am now a full-grown missionary out of training. I feel so powerful now! Also, my missionary family tree just keeps on getting bigger and more complicated. Let me explain it to you this way:  - I have three missionary fathers. (Elders Miles, Van Dyke, and Franco)  - Elder Porter is my missionary brother (Step-brother technically, but I'm going to round up to brother)  - I have an unknown number of other missionary siblings and grandparents (though from what I've heard it's a lot)  - I'm already a missionary uncle It's time to become like Mark Rober and try to be the best missionary uncle ever.  Welp. I've gotta get started writing because this email is already coming out late and I'm starting to forget what happened during the week (luckily, I wrote in my journal this week). Monday - Nov 6th Today is my last P-day with Elder Van Dyke. We savored every moment together, eating Baleadas, shopping, getting hair...

I've Got No Time And I've Got No Money

Image
Hi friends! I've had a pretty busy and interesting week, but I don't have any time to share it with you. We had a last minute change of plans that included 6 hours (of my 10 hour p-day) in the bus without my phone to write. I busied myself with reading the Book of Mormon for those 6 hours, which was really fun, but I'm now home with just a handful of minutes left before I gotta start proselyting again. I promise that you guys will recieve this week's email in the following week, but I still gotta write it. Most likely you will recieve two weekly emails this next p-day. I suppose I should give you guys a little information about what is going on with my life. Here are three things going on. 1) Had two events with the local Stake President (one of them being the reason I can't write very much today) 2) My comp is now the District Leader, so I can now learn how that job works 3) I got to meet my Missionary Nephew (I'll explain that in my full weekly email) Anyways....

Oh No! Here Comes The Drunk People

Hi friends! I did much better with keeping up with this week's journal writing, so we can go back to regularly scheduled weekly emails.  Also, with the end of Daylight Savings Time and the start of Standard Time I have one extra hour to write my weekly email before I can call my family.   Some of you might be wondering why I have one extra hour with the change in time. You see, Honduras doesn't care about daylight savings time or standard time so my clock will be staying the same while everyone else's will be changing.  Right now the sun is rising at 5:20am and setting at 5:21pm and I wouldn't be surprised if the sun starts rising at 4:45am before the Winter Solstice (when we hit the peak of winter and the change in sunrise/sunset switches to start happening later in the day). This can be both a blessing and a curse because I now have an extra hour to write emails before my weekly phone call, but also an hour less after the call to tie up lose ends. Also, we usually ...
