This Is Hot Honduras ... Then Why Am I So Cold?

Hi friends! Because Honduras is pretty close to the equator there are really only two seasons here: Summer (Hot and Dry) and Winter (Hot and Wet). This week, while places like Utah and England are transitioning into Fall, Honduras jumped from Summer to Winter. No joke, last week was SO HOT, and this week has been SO WET. Nonstop rainstorms have meant that clothes I've washed days ago are still wet.  Additionally, being in one of the coldest areas of my mission means that I actually feel cold here. I don't want to feel cold! This place isn't made to combat cold temperatures, only hot temperatures. I've actually switched from shorts to pants at night because our stone home turns into a fridge at night. Coming from Utah, a very dry place to Honduras is proving to be a challenge because I'm not comfortable with all of this ... wetness! I'm not sure I will even become fully dry during my mission, I'll just be in a state of perpetual wetness. I can only imagine wh...

I Lost My Fathers To A Motorcycle Accident! (LONG EMAIL ALERT)

Hi friends! Before I start I feel like I should clarify a few things: Yes, My companions (fathers) and I was in a car crash No, they did not die But... I have not seen them since they left for the hospital I'll tell you more in a bit. (Hope you are ready for a very detailled recounting of the events of Tuesday) In the meantime, here's how my hectic week went: Monday - Oct 9th After a few weeks of activities and busy p-days, today has felt very relaxing, which is good. Resting is a good way to prepare for the rest of the week, and I didn't know it at the time, but this rest would be very much needed later on in the week. While we were in town (Las Vegas) for today we stopped by a general store to buy new shoes for Elder Miles. I also spent time uploading photos for you guys to see, and troubleshooting the problems that always come from that. (You can see my photos with this link: https://photos.app.goo.gl/g2QAHn4xdMnPx4JT8).   Along with uploading photos, I downloaded everyt...

I've Got Two Fathers Now!

Image
Hi friends! This is a very busy week, with many plot twists, so you may not recieve this until the week after general conference. Ideally, you guys will recieve this the Monday after General Conference, but I have to write this email late at night right before bed, and I can't write any of it on my P-day. If I write fast enough (and brief enough) I can (hopefully) get this out on time. I'm just barely starting my second transfer period (second group of 6 weeks) here in Honduras and things are already pretty busy. How much more crazy will this get?! At the very least, life is very interesting here in Honduras. Every day really is a new adventure, I never know what to expect. Even if a day appears to be 'normal', plot twists bring new surprises constantly. If the title has piqued your interest, you may want to skip ahead to Thursday. The events of Thursday has definentally changed my mission story, at least for the next while, and will be entertaining for me to look back ...
